CSIR NET General Aptitude is designed to assess the candidate’s reasoning, analytical and problem-solving abilities. The syllabus is divided into two main heads: Numerical Ability and Logical Reasoning. Under Numerical Ability, it includes number, series, profit and loss, time and work, probability, and data interpretation. Logical Reasoning questions on puzzles, seating arrangements, syllogisms, and analytical reasoning are included. Besides, there are graphical representation questions where candidates have to interpret charts, graphs, or tables. It’s a common section for all CSIR NET subjects that test the candidate’s thinking and problem-solving capabilities to some extent. Effective preparation requires practice of previous year papers, and more important is to work on the increasing speed and accuracy of questions. Basic mathematics and reasoning problems, if practiced regularly, will boost performance in this section considerably. With proper learning of the General Aptitude syllabus, the candidate can score well and even increase his/her total scores in the CSIR NET exam.
